The project, Visualizing the Cristero War (1926-1929 and 1932-1941), aims to create a comprehensive visual representation and map of the collective memory and impact of the Cristero War on the Cristero diaspora in Mexico and the United States. The Cristero War had a profound impact on both sides of the Mexican-US border, leading to significant migration and dispersion of the Mexican diaspora. The war took place in the Central-Western Mexican States and had a significant impact on the lives of many Mexican citizens, leading to an estimated 250,000 deaths within the first three years of the war.
